This practice is ok to go to i...

This practice is ok to go to if you have time and money. I had rescued a very small kitten from the highway and bought it in (emergency) I realize that other patrons had appointments , I did not. I was however on my way to Tyler and was not from Canton to an appt. I aked if I could pay for the kittens care up front before I left and leave the kitten in thier care, They were very reluctant to do so,but finally accepted. The Vet, Dr. Elton Davis, examined the kitten told me that since I picked the cat up I was not deemed it's owner and responsible for it. That was already a given, I did not need to be told that. I was willing to pay for the kitten and had already voiced that. I stood while he examined the kitten and he put it in the kennel and told me I could come and collect the kitten after my appt. in Tyler, A emergency c-section came in and he left to go take care of that after putting the kitten in the kennel and I returned to the waiting area, hoping that I would be able to make my appt. The receptionist out front really were not helpful nor sypathetic. They saw me waiting and never inquired or asked if they could help me further, I waited 45 minutes.........other patrons came and went..........finally when my appointment came and went in Tyler, I returned to the desk and said I wanted to just collect the kitten and pay the office visit and leave, that I would take the kitten to my own vet since I now had missed the appointment. That got a little attention and the ladies at the front desk said "HE IS IN AN EMERGENCY C SECTION" I said yes I was aware. But surely they or any of the other techs floating around could have gotten the meds that were perscribed or given the shot and let me collect the kitten. Afther that I waited another 15 to 20 minutes before they could determine what I owed, In the end 10 minutes one ointment tube(very small) and one shot later, I paid my 150.00 and left with no I'm so sorry you missed your appointment or any other kind word. I was very disapointed with the attention received and the level of concern for anyone that was not a regular visitor at that clinic. I guess it's the old addage "no good deed goes unpunished".
I realize that in Canton, a lot of Animals are dropped off and bills may not be paid by persons abandoning animals from the trades days etc.... But I was willing to pay up front and to return that evening after hours(like others had done I'm sure) to collect the kitten. A little help and kindess would have gone a long way with me that day as I too was stressed out and trying to stave off a migraine. But I did stop to pick up a small kitten who had gone unnoticed and whose eye had been damaged but not lost. I too had a day that was lost, and had on nice clothes, and was not intending to be in a vets office that day. Yes it was Thursday and they were "going to be" slammed that weekend because of Memorial Day.
So would I reccomend this vet's office? No sadly I would not.

Sad, frustrated, angry.. there are no perfect words to explain the experience I had at Canton Vet Clinic. I had a close family friend refer me to get my kitten neutered here. Things felt tense the second I walked in & spoke to Kelly. As I handed my animal over for surgery she asked if I was there for his rabies shot & neuter to which I firmly said no, only neuter. He has just been given his rabies shot last month. I called our other vet to get his forms faxed over to the office asap as I could already sense that something weird was going on. I left and went about my day! Again like the very thorough person I am, I called mid day to confirm that they had received records and to remind that they did NOT have permission to give any shots as they were not needed. Guess they dropped the ball so I had it sent again. Either way, my message was clear. Fast forward to 3pm and time to pick up. I walk in to pay and sure enough my heart sank as I was told my kitten had been REVACCINATED and that they didn’t receive the fax until it was too late. I requested to speak with the vet and was holding back tears. Dr Eberhart was the vet. As I walked back into the room to speak to him he basically went on about how he trusts no one and has so many criminals and untrustworthy people bring their pets to him. His words to me “I have no reason to trust that what you’re telling me is true about your pet having his rabies vaccine until I am proven otherwise. I am a Christian man.” Not sure why that was necessary but sir, that was not very christianlike of you. After he let me speak he refused to take it out of my amount to be paid. $16 is clearly worth it to be prideful over. We ended up splitting the cost $8/$8 which is truly comical. I feel like I was downsized to nothing by this clinic who clearly thinks they have a right to do whatever they please. The neuter was a good job & only reason for my 2 stars bc I AM fair. These are extremely unfair people. Do not take your animal here.

My German Shepard got impaled in the top of the leg by a gate post that was laying sideways in tall grass. This is the only vet that provided a timely response and kept our girl from dying. They were quick to see her after hours and got her stabilized and fixed back up quickly. They also provided her with after hours care and went above and beyond removing some of the mats from behind her ear while she was asleep. I was planning on having to spend a minimum of 1000 dollars for the visit and it didn't even cost me that. We will now be long time customers and have them treat all of our pets and livestock. When a vet goes above and beyond for your pet, you need to stay with them. Thank you so much Canton Veternairy Clinic for saving my dog.

I took my Boxer in on a Saturd...

I took my Boxer in on a Saturday, because he had a huge mass on the back of his leg. They took samples to see if it was cancer and it was. Mrs. Corbet said that they would not be able to do surgery on him. She said the mass was to large and that they would not have enough skin to stich his leg back. She gave me information on Chemo and other options. She prescribed an antibiotic and pain reliever. As I was walking out to let our dog go to the bathroom another guy came out and looked at his leg and said that he could do the surgery. I don't know his name, but he has always been very helpful. ( I like him a lot) When I went back inside to pay I asked how much it was going to cost for the surgery. Another girl said she would find out. She brought me back a paper that said "510.00 surgery and to send it off OR 160.00 to not send it off. I asked her so its 160.00 for the surgery. She said yes. After going home and talking to my husband about it we decided to go ahead and have the surgery done and not send it off. I scheduled it ten days after the first appointment. I went to pick our dog up at 4:10. They close at 5:00. I thought that would be plenty of time. I went to pay and they said $350.00. I said they told me it was going to be $160.00. Kelly went and talked to the vet about it and he said that it was 510 minus 160 for the surgery without sending it off. I said that's not what the note says. She said I can go home and get it and bring it back. I live about 12 miles from the clinic. So I drove home got the note and came back. Kelly read the note and then handed it back to me and said I could talk to Dr. Eberhart after he was done looking at a cow. So I waited about five mins in a room. He took the note and said that the note meant that the surgery was 510 and to send it off was 160.00. I told him it does not say that. He said it was common sense. Who knows how much that cost? I don't work there so I didn't know how expensive it was. To say it was "common sense" was kind of offensive. He said that he would meet me in the middle. So that I would pay 270.00 instead of 160.00 like the paper said. I did not feel like arguing with him. It was getting late. The staff was ready to go. So I agreed to pay the $270.00. It was not my fault that whoever wrote it on the paper made the mistake. I should not have to pay for it. That is what I was told it would cost. That is what I should have paid. I go to pay and my credit card did not work it was declined. So on top of everything else I had to call and find out why it was not working. Heather comes out with our boxer and says "still not ready?" her tone wasn't pleasant. I had arrived on time to get my dog. I had to drive home to get the note. Then he tells me that the note is wrong. That it is common sense. The note read exactly" 510 with surgery OR 160 without sending it off." Point is if they would have been a little nicer about the issue it would have been ok. I left the office at 5:05 that was a huge inconvenience for them. I have spent plenty of $$$$ money there. I don't think I'll go back.

Everyone was so friendly. I had an appointment for my dog to get a heartworm test. We had prompt treatment. I'm a newcomer to the area and felt right at home! I will recommend this clinic to anyone.
