Andy Gump, Inc. began in the 1950s as a family owned business of septic services.In the 1950's an ordinance was passed requiring portable restrooms on construction sites. The company had a septic pump truck and decided to build wood portable restrooms, using scrap plywood, and started renting and servicing portable restrooms, under the name Mission Sanitation Company. It expanded into providing temporary power to construction sites and becoming a licensed electrical contractor. The company began investing in flushing portable restrooms, eventually purchasing the design and developing improvements in the VIP portable restrooms. The company also helped design and expand the restroom trailer product line. In the 1990s the company expanded services to include temporary fencing, temporary rental and servicing operations in Bakersfield, California, and the fabrication of VIP restrooms in Ontario, California. In 2001 the company purchased a facility in North Hollywood, California for sanitation and septic system services.
