If you are willing to stay about 15 miles from New Braunfels that is where Maricopa Lodge is found-Lodge is just another name for "motel". This place was OK for a last minute place I could find. Rooms are old, but clean but they do have a very musty smell (bring frebreeze). We did not have a room with a kitchenette, but we did have a Very Small micro-fridge. About 6 bar-b-que pits and a few picnic tables to share-have to be prepared to wait or plan around others. Nice shaded area to play frisbee, catch baseball or football, playground for kids-never used to pool but nice to know it was there Balcony was nice to sit on and over look river-drawback-bridge with lots of traffic right next to lodge. Plus side is you can get right on the river from the property and float for about an hour and a half and walk back (about 8 minutes-up a few small hills) or catch a shuttle. You can only get towels every other day-use wisely and have to ask-but you get them very quickly-someone always in office. Ice on property to buy. They say they have coffee-but it was never made.

They have larger rooms which maybe nicer if you can get those. Ours was smal along with bathroom. This is just a step up from camping!
