I am reading these reviews and realizing I should have read them BEFORE entering this mean man's store. The poor disabled vet below that wrote a review here is right, this man shouldn't be in the business of serving the public as service is NOT his forte. We couldn't find Viking Archery as our Garmin wasn't working and my husband was out of pocket, so I made the big mistake of calling the owner of this archery business for help. Well, he's not here to help you, let's make that clear right now. He yelled at me and hung up on me twice. Once we found the place all on our own, I was thinking we should maybe just turn around, go home, and find a different place for my daughter to learn archery, a place where people are kind. Well, when we were talking it over, we got out of the car, and there he was, the little short angry old man with a scowl on his face waiting to pounce on me. My daughter told me right before we saw him that she read a LOT of bad reviews online about the owner and how he was very mean. YIKES! When we saw the man, he was standing outside his store just waiting and immediately started accusing me of having a bad attitude. Ha! What a joke! I asked him why he was so mean when I just wanted directions. He started yelling, telling me we weren't allowed to come into his store and take lessons and to leave. I was absolutely shocked! I have never in my life encountered such a deranged angry foul man. He is dangerous. When I realized this, I knew nothing I could say would make a difference and told him I was done, would not argue, and left. As I was getting in my car, he was shouting how he got my license plate number. Wow! This guy is one loose canon! A ticking time bomb. One day, his heart might explode! I write this review in hopes that families will read it and spare their precious children and families from having to be attacked by this old ravenous attack dog. Though he has no teeth, he is quite loud, angry, unkind, and just down right mean. I don't know what has happened to him, but clearly, he is not quite a man. I would say more like a demon. May God have mercy on his old wretched soul.

Amazing amazing amazing

Won't do business anywhere else. My daughter takes lessons from Ms.Lannie. They are very knowledgable and great to do business with. Definitely recommend can't beat the prices or the small business atmosphere! The indoor and outdoor range are great for practice!

I also wanted to make my own decision after reading the reviews. 6 of us, none of which had ever done archery, went in on a weekend at Canyon Lakeview Resort. We met Tim, Kevin and Carl, and everyone of them were patient with us. We rented equipment and went outside to practice. Tim got us settled, and Carl stayed with us to give coaching advice. we were there 2 hours and had a wonderful time. We met some realy nice people, we were treated well, and we had a lot of fun. I guess everyone needs to see for themselves. We are happy customers. Thank you Tim and Carl.

I keep seeing all these negative reviews and just had to put in my experiences. I have done business with Viking since they were in San Antonio. I am not a big spender so they have no need to treat me differently and they don't. Tim does not have the best customer skills but he is fair and extremely knowledgeable. Kevin, on the other hand, is great with customers and an exceptional person. I have always found their prices to be very fair and always lower than the Big stores. You will never find better service. So with good prices and excellent service, why would I want to go anywhere else?

I purposely had not gone to Viking due to the negative stories I had heard over the years but I broke down and took my daughters bow to get set up on a Saturday morning and was pleased. they were great to her, good fair prices and nice helpful staff. Not sure what changed but I will be going back.

This place is amazing and people are lying about the owner I have gone there for five years and never had a problem with him. If I was to say something to the liars it would be to shut the hell up and get a life.

Little Timmy is a Bully and a Coward

On my 1st trip to Viking Archery at Canyon Lake, TX. my son and I had a hard time locating it. Google took us to the wrong place. When we get there I attempted to tell Little Timmy (the owner) about the Google mistake. Little Timmy could have cared less and coped an attitude with me. Ok maybe he was having a bad day. On the 2nd visit my son bought a crossbow, Little Timmy was rude and seemed mad this time also. Then on the 3rd trip and final visit to Little Timmy Kingdom, my wife and son were with me. As soon as I rolled my wheelchair in the door I heard Little Timmy yelling at someone on the phone, he was on the phone with Google about his store location being wrong. When he got off the phone, I said that I had tried to tell him about that before but he got mad at me for telling him about the Google mistake. Little Timmy then turned on me like a rabid dog. The anger that came from him was like a two year old that did not get his way. He yelled at me and told that he was not talking to me, and he will show me mad. He then yelled at me to get out of his store. Now I am a 70 year old man in a wheelchair with my wife and son with me, he knows I can’t get up out of my chair and set him straight. Bullies only pick on those that can’t or won’t defend themselves. All bullies are cowards that way.

After going on line and reading others reviews on Viking Archery, I realized that Little Timmy is not just a bully and a coward but he has extreme anger issues. I can only surmise that when he was young his Mother must have run out from under the porch and bit him on the leg. This explains the anger issues he has.

I would never retaliate in any fiscal way, but that does not mean that I will not take some joy in reading his obituary and will take relief on his grave site.

Mr. Tim was Great!

I was a little reluctant to go to Viking after reading these reviews. Decided to make my own opinion of Mr. Tim. Needed arrows and he matched my bow up with the perfect set. Also he was very knowledgeable and new what he was doing. Would recommend this place to my closest friends any day. The negative comments are likely the same person creating different accounts. Dont pay any attention to them

Ain't nobody got time for that

I had just sat down with my little brother with his root beer soda pop, when I saw Mr. Tim start a fight with my daddy. Ain't nobody got time for that...L J there's a fight, got to tell Ms. Lannie I got to go, daddy said we are never going back...I am sad, why would Mr. Tim attack my daddy like that and why was everyone laughing at us when we left...I'm confused

Add my name to your list

So you are new to archery, you have not read the blogs warning you about this place or this man, well let me give you some advice. This old man suffers from a God Complex disorder. You go into his store to buy a bow, and ask him about a bow hanging from the wall. Now at that moment he is assessing whether your a simpleton or an arrogant man. For what you didn't know is that those bows are his "mini museum---a history of bows," and his introduction to his greatness. He has found you to be green and uninformed and takes advantage of your lack of knowledge. He decides to work you over. Gives you a tour of his shop, explains how he's done this and that, blah, blah, blah. You think wow, this guy knows his stuff. He treated you like "Archery Royalty." He's baited you and you took the hook. Now he's going to teach you a lesson, maybe today, maybe the next time you come in, maybe after you shop there for awhile. Then you try to order something and it never comes in. Tell him you want to order a case and he blows you off. Ask to order a arrow holder and he tells you to call the maker yourself because he's not going to get it for you. So you think, man whats up with this business. You still shop there, because the range is nice, but the mans attitude is wearing on uou. Then one day, WHAM, BAM, you get told your a punk, a know it nothing man. You tell him to f... o.. and that you are never going to his store again. You walk out and then he has to get up from his table with his peanut gallery snickering just to get your liscence plate number. Just do yourself a favor and call him and tell him to add you to the list. Because eventually you will be on that list.

I am a veteran and my wife is a disabled veteran and we both served in the USAF. This business needs to be closed down. Treated us like we were dogs. Will never go into this store again. Should have zero stars, but review makes you put at least 1 star.

Unprofessional service rude owner

Warning, this is a disgraced business man who runs this store. He is rude, and will verbally insult you. Do not spend your money here. This is his retirement store, he is not interested in your business. Look up Texas Bowhunters and see all the remarks. The only people who still go her are either uninformed of his business practices or suffer from abused wife syndrome.

Viking Archery has an old scho...

Viking Archery has an old school good ol' day type or work ethic and business. Their prices beat everyone else's, and should for some reason they don't have what you are looking for their honesty takes over and they'll go as far as sending you to a competitor. They care more about sharing their passion to others than their business it seems (hence their cheap/weekly classes for children and adults). They are the best at tuning bows and are on top of their game concerning the latest and greatest. Tim, the owner is one of those straight laced/ straight faced and short spoken fellas. Don't let him fool you, he is kind at heart! Lannie, his wife will talk about hunting or target shooting all day with you if you let her.

Viking Archery is a wonderful ...

Viking Archery is a wonderful place to learn about archery and how to shoot. the owners Tim and Lannie Whiteford are knowledgable and professional. I have been going to this shop for the past four(4) years and have always had a positive experience. it is the best around. the pro shop has alot to offer with skill and expertice, as well as a variety of products to choose from. if they dont have it, they will either order it or direct you where to get it. I have brought my 4H students to shoot there as well as many friends who all have had a great time shooting at Viking. I question the negative reviews, are they written by the competition? come on out and give it a try.

My husband and I had a horrible experience there today. We were both kicked out of the store within minutes by the owner Tim. He then followed us outside and took down our license plate and began to make a call. I think he's mentally unstable. During a demonstration the string slipped from my husbands fingers and Tim lost it.. He told us to get out he was'nt going to sell us anything. I'm still shocked but grateful to know my son will never ever take lessons there.

VERY BAD ATTITUDE, AND TERRIBLE PEOPLE SKILLS (IT WAS THE OWNER)

Went in as a first timer with a friend who is also new to archery, to make small talk, ask questions and buy beginners equipment. The man who was there turns out was the owner, was so rude and had such a bad attitude, my friend and I left without spending a penny and will never return nor suggest this place to anyone I know. I can't believe this place is able to keep its doors open with an owner like that running it. They won't be around very long. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO SPEND YOUR MONEY, SOMEWHERE THAT WILL APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS. Gave one star because it wouldn't let me leave 0 stars.

I am a Disabled vet made to feel like a hero

I am a disabled vet and a professional musician and I went in there looking like a bum off the street they were a little leery as any store wood, especially that is out in the boondocks is there store. We started chattin and they found out I was a vet, the guy fixed me up with a super deal, I told him I havnt shot in years took me out on the range and helped me get back into it. he put everything on my bow weather i purchased it there or not, then coached me for an hour, for free. Then me and the owner walked around and talked bow for 30 minutes. Nicest folks I have meet. I am legally blind in the daylight called light blind so I have to wear sunglasses inside and that didtn matter they opened there shop for me. Thank you for your time. So I felt compelled to write about it. they didnt ask me, [email protected] is my email you can ask me about my experence!

Nice place

I hesitated to visit this shop because of reviews I had read on the internet. Some were good, some were bad. I visited the shop today and spent an hour shooting on the indoor range. Spent only $3 for range use and everyone was very friendly. I asked the man in the shop to check out the bow I recently purchased on Craigslist, partly to see if the bow was ok and partly to see if he would try to sell me something. He told me the bow was fine and was very helpful with some advice. The range is very nice and I will definately be back. *****

Absolutely Terrible

I won't go into details about my 3 experiences with the owner, Tim, but all I can say is how the heck is this store still in business with such a rude and horrible people person. The store manager is great and very knowledgeable but because of Tim, I will NEVER send any business there. I'm an archery enthusiast and have dealt with most the archery stores in and around San Antonio. They don't get much worse than this. If you happen to go there and Tim is not there, you will have a great experience. For anyone that deals with this guy, WATCH OUT!!!!!
