SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence is a community-based, nonprofit, nonresidential center for independent living. The center provides a range of services for individuals with developmental disabilities. It serves the residents of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, Perry and Scott counties in southeast Missouri. SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence provides advocacy services to consumers and assists in becoming self-advocates. The center offers training on a variety of subjects, such as budgeting, assertiveness and effective parenting. It administers the SEMO-TECH Assistive Technology Program, which includes equipment evaluations and the demonstration of adaptive devices. SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence also organizes community work incentive programs that include information related to social security benefits and work programs.
