The Middle Township Police Department is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. Located in Cape May Court House, N.J., it employs a staff of more than 60 full-time, sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. The Middle Township Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. The department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. In addition, the Middle Township Police Department operates motorcycle patrol, honor guard and hostage negotiation teams.
