What is CrossFit? CrossFit is the sport of fitness. With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. OK, SO HERE'S THE DEFINITION OF CROSSFIT FROM THE OFFICIAL SITE: CrossFit is the conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. We intentionally start with broad, general and inclusive fitness. We train a wide range of athletes, from those who are looking to build on years of hard work to folks who might just be starting on their pursuit of increased physical activity. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, meaning our certified coaches are able to thoughtfully adjust workouts to your skill and fitness level. The only thing you need to get started is a willingness to work hard and try new things. CrossFit® was started in 2000 by Greg Glassman, a former gymnast who learned through his coaching that the best way to achieve optimal fitness was not through long, single-body part training but rather through ?constantly varied, functional movement, performed at relatively high intensity.? CrossFit workouts often include elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing and core conditioning to improve overall strength, speed, endurance, agility and flexibility. Constantly Varied means that every day brings a different workout (or WOD), incorporating any combination of these elements. At CrossFit Total Empowerment everyone (including you!) will practice technique and lift weights, jump rope, climb, swing kettle bells, work on squats, deadlifts and dips, and occasionally even do crazy things with tires. Each day, the one thing you can count on is a completely different WOD (that's a CrossFit term for Workout of the Day) from yesterday. Most of our members soon figure out the best part of this whole experience is the people they train with. Drop in to any of our five locations and you'll quickly understand that we're all doing this together, motivating one another and sharing in the challenges and successes as the entire class powers through another challenging workout. We encourage you to contact us today to get started. Courtesy of CrossFit Inc.

STRENGTH TRAINING- Strength training is critically important. Strength training builds muscle; muscle tension and density give a body a toned look. FUNCTIONAL MOBILITY- Functional training utilizes movements performed in life's daily activities, such as walking, bending, lifting and climbing stairs. HIGHLY VARIED EXERCISE- With new challenges daily we avoid the dreaded fitness plateau and get you in the best shape of your life. HIGH INTENSITY INTERVALS-All-out effort intervals, intervals that push your heart rate to about 90 percent of its maximum, followed by active recovery, challenge your body more than moderately intense cardiovascular exercise.
