Waterworks Aquatics, voted the best swim school in Orange County for 2009 and 2010 by the readers of Parenting OC magazine, offers the finest swimming lessons in San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles Counties.  We teach children ages 3 months through adult how to swim.  With a supportive atmosphere and child-centered approach, our goal as a swim center is to encourage children to have fun in the water while improving their water skills. Our proven teaching methods and caring instructors will allow children to learn and grow within our program. By utilizing a specialized muscle memory technique, we are able to teach stroke technique at a very quick rate.

The service we provide you and your child extends beyond swim lessons. Lasting relationships are built through a "triangle of communication" between every parent, child, and instructor. We carefully match our students to an instructor who can best understand their capabilities and help them reach their full potential. Each lesson is structured yet flexible to meet the needs of each individual, which allows our students to steadily progress and thrive in a safe, comfortable environment.

Highly recommend this swimming school. Soft instructions, never yelling at children. Super for self esteem. Each step is rewarded from the treasure chest. Great family atmosphere.

This place is definitely a cas...

This place is definitely a case if getting what you pay for. While our friends were all raving about how great Waterworks was, we hesitated about moving our two kids over from another local swim school because we had already invested so much in that program. My only regret is that we waited so long to move our kids over here. Within about three months at Waterworks, my 9-year-old son went from a so-so freestyle to learning and now improving upon four different strokes. He's now swimming twice a week in stroke clinic and would gladly go more if we could find the time. My 4-year-old daughter, who could only scream, cry and basically sink after 18 months of lessons elsewhere is cruising freestyle and backstroke across the pool, and now learning to dive! She is so proud of herself and loves to come see her instructor. Both of my kids swim regularly with Chris, who won them over instantly with his friendliness and patience. From time to time, they've also worked with Justin, Ryan and Brett -- all of whom are equally fantastic, bringing their own personalities to the table to give my kids exactly what they've needed to progress. Kimberly and her entire front office staff is friendly and helpful with everyhing we ever need. We love this feeling that everyone at Waterworks knows and is invested in our kids! I can't imagine having having them swim anywhere else!

We take our 4-year old and 2-year old here, 3 times a week. They LOVE it and their progress has been unbelievable! Our 4-year old boy was timid and afraid at first, but Kelly got him through it and now he dives in off the side of the pool, back floats on his own, dives deep for rings, and is now learning the back stroke - ALL in under 4 weeks! And our 2-year old holds her breath like a champ, back floats on her own and flips herself over on her own. This place has made our summer! And theirs!

The BEST Swim School@

My son started his swimming class at WaterWorks when he was one year old. He’s been swimming at least once/week in last 2 years. The facility is always clean. The staff are very friendly. Recently the instructor Christine provided Ethan a next level certificate which is a great motivation for him. We were told she was the best at the WaterWorks by our friend a few years ago. Yes, we’re thrilled to have her. Ethan loves Ms. Christine. She is the BEST!

Waterworks is the Place to Be

Similar to Ozeki91's review, we have been swimming at Waterworks in Irvine and absolutely love everything about it.

We came over from doing private lessons in a home pool where I felt my son (3yrs old) was hitting a plateau. Within 2 lessons, he was doing freestyle across the pool for 20 minutes non stop and shortly after that he was learning backstroke. It has been 5 1/2 months now and he is now learning breaststroke.

It's not just the instructors that make Waterworks a great place but the entire staff as a whole. There hasn't been a single time we've gone there for lessons where we don't feel welcomed. Each time a staff member greets us with a smile and really seem to care.

Their overall approach to swimming makes it an enjoyable experience for kids of all ages... especially the play time in the play pool after lessons! The introduction to swim meets and competition enable even the youngest participants to gain confidence and feel proud of what they can accomplish.

The only downside I can think of is that they do such a great job it's hard to schedule make-ups because they are too popular! I almost wish they were a hidden gem I could keep to myself!

Since we live in San Clemente and drive up to Waterworks twice a week, I can say it's been well worth the time and energy to get up there. Can't go wrong!

San Diego! You're getting an awesome swim school!

As a long time patron of Waterworks Aquatics in Irvine, I cannot recommend this facility enough to families in Carlsbad.

We have had great experience with this school, on two different levels. My oldest daughter has a coaching session once/week for competitive swim strategy. In the 1.5 years that she has been attending, first with Julian and then with David, she has improved greatly and is now making blue times with her competitive swim team in the OC.

My youngest daughter started swim lessons in Spring 2010. She has had some swim experience, but we wanted to make sure that she learned the right way from the beginning. In less than one year, she has gone from level 1 - level 6 (level 8 is the highest). I am sure that with having an older sister who is a competitive swimmer, she has more opportunities to watch and copy what she does. However, she would not have had made such great and rapid improvement if it was not for her instructor, Audra, who was so patient with her from the beginning and gave her confidence.

In the past year, we have been lucky to have great instructors like David and Audra. Waterworks does a great job of hiring experienced instructors with great swimming backgrounds and they are able to adapt their teaching styles to the students' level. I can easily interchange my girls with these two and know that I will get quality instruction.

Waterworks is great not just for the beginning swimmer, but also solid with providing kids who are very serious about competitive swimming.

We are very grateful to this facility and its instruction and I know that Carlsbad will also benefit! :)
