My favorite place to eat in Carlsbad. Clean, friendly, and a wide selection that is always fresh - important for buffet-style. They even carry sushi and have a mongolian grill! I try and visit at least once a month

We eat here about once a week and the food is great. It's a busy place so the food does not get old sitting around.

They have sushi and even Mongolian BBQ. Seafood and lots of other great items. They are normally well staffed and most of the staff are friendly.

I called the buffet and spoke with the hostess. I had one of their coupons, but it expired a few days ago. I asked if I could still use it and was told 'of course, no problem, come on in". I brought in my family and when it came to the bill they would not accept the coupon, not a big deal as it was just a few buck, but the were so rude, saying 'you never asked about the coupon when you called', she pretty much called us liars. Like I said, no big deal, just a few bucks, but since they were so rude (and arrogant) I'll spread the word just how rude they are. There are many other restaurants much better, West Buffet acted like they're a 5 star restaurant. All they needed was to be nice and not so 'better than thou'. By the way, the waitress was great, it was the 'main hostess' that thinks that she walks on water and can be so rude.

We ate here on Sunday, 8/16/09. They had 2 employees sleeping on the tables (nice to think the table you're eating off of has whatever germs the employees have all over it, right?). The bathroom garbage cans were overflowing, there was vomit in the sink. We were there for more than an hour, and we brought it to the managers attention immediately, but yet an hour later, it was still there.. When it was brought to the managers attention a second time, we were asked to leave. My husband took a video of the sleeping employees, the really dirty bathrooms, and even caught a worker scooping up food that was dropped on the buffet table and putting it back in the pan! When the manager saw this, she threatened to call the police. We filed a report with the health department that night, after 3 of us became ill with food poisoning. The health department sent a worker first thing to following morning (and of course, the restaurant was clean then - how dirty can it get before it even opens for the day?). What I want to know is... how can you justify letting a place where people eat (and subsequently get sick!) become so dirty, when you have employees sleeping on the tables. Really, really nasty all the way around.

My family ate at the Sunday buffet, and two of us ended up in the emergency room with food poisoning!?! The other six in our party also got the runs for a few days, within hours of eating there. Four of our party thought it was decent at first, the other four of us were disgusted by the funky odors, the uncleanliness of the furnishings, and the "trough" feeding at it's finest. Remember the adage: "if it looks too good to be true, than it probably is..." If you're that adventurous - be careful! Be very, very careful!!!

I read a lot of the reviews about this restaurant, so i decided to come and try it. I went to eat there on a Sunday, which serve crab legs and more sushi. As i walk in, i was greeted with a somewhat unwelcome. Ok, maybe she just have a bad day. so, i went on to my table. However, how could you ask me "what drink for you" and with that kind a tone and rushing, and as far as i could remember they we're not busy. I eat and their food was not impressive. The rice was hard, and the food was dry.I tried their sashimi it was slimy!! i figure maybe it was just that peace i had, was bad. So i went to the bar, to get some more sashimi, all three of them was melting down blood. Gross!!! The service? was bad, very bad. how could you just stand their by the wall and notice that my drink was empty, and my table had few plates need to be taken. I tried to get their attention, but they were too busy talking. I caught one of the waitress eyes but she did not come, nor told the other server(whoever sever supposed to be serving me) that i needed help, except she rolled her eyes. Yes, its a buffet and yes it is cheap..but so what, buffet or not, we still need service. That is why they are there, to serve us. All i just wanted is my drink and at least take some of my dirty plates. Maybe, i just come on a wrong day. I will try this place again and hoping it will be better next time because my first experience, was horrible!!

Very good food for good price!

The best thing is their Mongolian BBQ . And the man that stir frys it for you is always so happy and nice! Good sushi too!

This is a wonderful chinese-style buffet. There is a nice variety and the food is delicious. You can even have your own stir fry made up of ingredients you choose. The only problem I encountered is there wasn't a lot of ice in the ice water, which made the water warm. I followed a waitress and asked for more ice....of course she complied. Very nice.
