We hope you enjoy our true southern style bar-b-que, prepared the old fashioned way since 1954. Our meat is slow cooked in a bar-b-que pit, using local pecan wood. We prepare our sauce, salads and beans fresh daily. Our homemade sourdough cobbler is a little slice of history, courtesy of a recipe from an old cattle drive cook! We hope you enjoy our true southern style bar-b-que, prepared the old fashioned way since 1954. Food was cold service was terrible and they definitely don't know how to cook beans or bbq. Sorry you should shut down. Food was that bad!

I have no idea why this place is so popular

While I was in town for two weeks on a job assignment, the crew and I decided to try Red Chimney; it was busy and that's an excellent indicator of a good restaurant. We were seated fairly quickly--they were good enough to try to seat us all together--but the food, the entire reason we were there, was a major disappointment. I tried their "Hog Heaven" plate, which was beef brisket, a hot link, and smoked ham, and I tried their beans and cole slaw as sides. The meat arrived a couple degrees below room temperature and the beans were just warm enough to make me think they had been sitting near a toaster for five minutes. The barbecue sauce was essentially colored vinegar with no other discernible taste, the cole slaw tasted like the cabbage had been whitewashed with Glidden interior flat latex paint (with hints of Dutch Boy and a thrilling Krylon finish), the hot link was barely spicy enough to be noticed, and their ham tasted exactly like I can buy in any grocery store. Nice service, but the entire reason for being there in the first place was a dismal disappointment, and my visit marked the last time I'll waste money there.

I loved their smoked turkey, and the best bbq sauce I have EVER had.
