Contrary to what the other poster said, in Michigan, there is no requirement for anyone to take unproven or untrained service animals if there is no federal financing of the property ,, at all. Doctors slip counts for nothing except,, a seeing eye for the blind dog, who continuously wears the correct harness and florid yellow vest, specifically named by the state of mi , as being required. It MUST be proven trained and for the blind only under those circumstances.

while checking in we informed Jasmine we had a service dog. she said there'd be a $10 charge. when she was told they can't charge for a service dog and tried to show her the card & law, she said she didn't care. we asked for mgr's phone # and she refused at first saying "he's gona tell you the same". we finally got Roger's #. turns out he's the owner. his response was "no, you can't have your money back". when he was told it's federal law his response was "I don't care if it's a law". he then said if the charge was going to be a problem "you need to just check out". so besides violating the federal disabilities act, we were threatened with eviction. we stay in motels over 300 nights a year all over the country with our work (wind turbine farms) and this is the first time we've run into such arrogance and ignorance. they are push button Indians, enjoying the fruits of living in America, but refuse to follow our laws. the room was very sub-motel 6ish but still was over $71. woodyzzs motel doesn't take dogs, but gladly accepted our business & the dog. a way,way nicer motel and nicer people. they were full tonite though.
