I've been to this location three times now. Each experience was terrible. First time the place was a complete mess and had a foul odor upon entering, I purchased beer for a ridiculous price. The second time I bought more alcohol that was decently priced, or I would have if they had accepted the use of a debit card which apparently they don't if it's under five dollars. I rarely carry cash on me, so I said never mind and went to the pride of carol stream right across the street. Now, the third time I went here was the last straw. So I went to make my purchase of beer again and the same guy who has sold to me before was confused by my license even though we had a long friendly talk about it the first time I made a purchase here. I have an out of state I.d. I'm from Arizona. I had gotten a DUI while out there and now have the "ignition interlock" on my license. Plenty of establishments know what that is. And for those that don't I usually don't mind explaining it. But me and this guy seriously talked about Arizona and why I was back here and how a ignition interlock device works because he was curious. But now he has no idea what it is and is pretty much telling me that I can't buy alcohol because I have this device on my vehicle. I explain to him that's not what that means, and that it's really none of his business and that doesn't make an identification invalid for an alcohol purchase. I'll be 25 soon. I don't even look close to underage. AND I've bought from him before. He had to get someone on the phone to ask about it. which is fine, you should always make certain if you're not before an alcohol sale. But this guy didn't remember me either and had no idea what that even was, the guy who is helping me is telling him that it means I can't buy alcohol. I tell him no but he's ignoring me and then very rudely said he won't make the sale. This establishment desperately needs training when it comes to checking identification. There are places you can pick up pamphlets FOR FREE that show you every type of license from every state and this establishment chooses to not carry such a useful tool. I just think, he has sold to me once before so really how inconsistent are these people with how the check I.d's for alcohol and tobacco sales. Who knows how many fake I.d's have been accepted here. Maybe I caught the guy on a bad day and he decided to mess with a girl because it made him feel better. Either way, I will ALWAYS be taking my business to the pride of carol stream from now on. It's clean, friendly and they are properly trained and even have that pamphlet that was just for mentioned for when they are not sure. I literally when to the pride right after this ordeal and corner pantry and was in and out in less than a minute. Do yourself a favor and never stop at this corner pantry. I would give no stars if possible.
