The building started as a small general store in 1918, then an addition was made and it became a filling station in 1940. The history and soul of the building can still be felt today, and makes for a unique and special atmosphere for Cave Gang Pizza & Pub. The building sits atop an entrance to the legendary Carthage Cave, from which the name of the restaurant is derived. One can learn the story of the 10th Street cave gang, along with a slew of facts and a bit of folklore from the news articles and documents that hang on the wall inside the quaint little building. Cave Gang doesn’t rely solely on the unique story to make your visit unforgettable, the amazing pizza is made from locally sourced ingredients, the wings are another favorite and everything is prepared in the woodfire oven.
