PortBridge Internet Services was founded in 1998 to deliver an affordable, dependable and local Internet access option for residents and businesses in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. The company is now building the largest network of local dial-up ISPs in eastern half of the Carolinas. PortBridge continues to develop an affordable alternative to the impersonal, national ISPs that increasingly are cutting support staff. The company also believes in the need for local dial-up Internet access, even as a number of local ISPs have closed because they are saddled with service and equipment contracts they can no longer afford. PortBridge serves thousands of customers across in five North Carolina counties. It is one of the only locally owned and operated companies involved in its local communities.
