I used the Stone Top Company to do my granite install for my kitchen. It started off great very helpful people, quick quote time, and then it took a turn for the WORST. I was quoted 2 weeks after down payment until granite would be installed; 1 week until they could make a template for the countertops and then 1 week for fabrication. It ended up being 3 weeks until the install and that was after many phone calls to get the appointment scheduled. After they arrived Friday afternoon with the granite do the install 3 pieces were cut wrong and the seams were in the wrong place as discussed during templating with the owner Nora. The install could not be finished that day. The owner was not apologetic for the errors and the inconvenience of being left with a kitchen half way done and unusable; in fact she was very rude on the phone with me. The crew left and stated they would return the following morning between 8-9am with the correct pieces and finish the job, I said perfect I have plans at 12 so it has to be done before then, around 11am that Saturday I received a phone call from Nora stating their machines were down and they are waiting on electrician to come to fix it and they couldn’t come until the following Monday. Already a little on edge from the lack of communication in the company, I insisted as soon as the machine was repaired later in the afternoon that my piece be cut and the job to be finished (her crew of workers already work Saturdays, so I wasn’t asking her to call in people that don’t normally work weekends) After listening to a very unprofessional and rude business owner on the phone for 15 minutes I eventually got her to send a guy out with the new piece of granite to finish the kitchen once the machine was fixed. What happened next? One worker arrives with another piece cut to the incorrect size again and on top of that even if the piece was cut correctly the job couldn’t be completed without 2 people at least. At this point I am very frustrated to say the least. I am a very understanding guy and can understand sometimes things just go wrong but I reached my boiling point when the owner can’t even suck up her pride to apologize for the mistakes made. The installers who work for The Stone Top Company and have nothing to do with the business except the installs represented the company better than the hot headed owner and in fact the installers apologized for her actions. After almost 4 days with no kitchen and showing up hours late to multiple appointments the job was completed. With all this being said my granite install with The Stone Top Company was not a very pleasant one and I am glad that it’s over. I would NOT recommend them to anyone and my advice is BUYER BEWARE!
