By documenting and displaying children's work, learning becomes visible to them; it provides them with a visible trace of the different processes of their projects. This "visible memory" of what they were doing or saying serves as a platform for the next steps in learning. Documentation also provides rich content for teacher-parent or child-parent discussion and makes evident the capabilities and intellectual powers of young children. Finally, it provides parents and the community with the information that Hampton Preschool children are engaged in interesting projects and other activities worthy of documentation.
