My mom has been at Bonaventure since August of 2016 and absolutely loves it. We've since moved her into their assisted living and she's getting great care and their service plan costs are more reasonable than anything else I've see in the area.

I agree with the other reviewer. Bonaventure has not improved since they opened. I too need my mother close, so I chose this facility. The problems are too numerous to mention here, including numerous medication errors. Fortunately, I'm retired and am constantly looking over their shoulder (and they still make mistakes.). I've contacted their headquarters AND the Colorado Senior Ombusman, without any luck. It's appalling that they are still open. If you have any choice at all, do NOT put your loved one here.

My 82yr old Mother-In-Law lived in Littleton and was to far away to care for her, because we live in The Meadows Community in Castle Rock. We carefully inspected the new Bonaventure facility just built only 4 minutes from our house. The staff seemed very friendly, great programs, great meal plans and food, and over all it seemed like the perfect place for her to stay, albeit a bit expensive at $3000/mo for a two bedroom one bath apartment and one "Gourmet Chef" meal a day.

Selling her Townhome, moving, and setting her up was exhausting and terrifying for her as she had been in her old place for 20 years. There were a few quirks in the beginning and we muscled thru them. We also noted a few residents we'd see in the lobby would warn us not to move in; but we chalked it up to crankiness and low mental filters.

Soon the problems started happening. Her room was wired wrong for TV, an important asset for an elderly person. Having been in the satellite industry for 20 years, not just wired wrong, incompetently wired wrong; inexplicable. But I thought just a small problem. Little did I know, it would be indicative of a much larger trending problem.

The turn over of staff is astonishing. From the Executive Director, to the Chef, to the lower staff, I don't think I've ever seen the same person there twice. The chef alone has been replaced a MINIMUM of 6 times since May 2013. The food is at best, institutional and they never have enough or "Run out" all the time. You have to understand, the lunch reconsidered the best of the 3 by the residents) is an impressive menu of which the "Ran Out" of most of the items, even if you sit down at the beginning. They "Run out" of Salad for days. In a place where "Roughage" is one of the predominant dietary concerns?

Last night the featured dinner menu had NONE of the items left, so my Mother-In-Law ordered a sandwich. They brought her out a half of sandwich; what is she a child? the bread was near stale, and the meat of a lesser quality than the School lunch program. The menu also featured Cake and Ice Cream. When she ordered it they told her she could have, Cake OR Ice Cream, but not both because they didn't have enough.

Having gone online and read the multitude of complaints from other Bonaventure homes in other states, and the complaints of even the ED's about management and ownership of Bonaventure I truly wish we never moved her in. One of the ED's from the Oregon Home said they had a 94% employee turnover ratio in one year. That about seems par for the course in Castle Rock.

It's blatantly obvious Bonaventure puts on a good show to get you in the door and then couldn't give a crap about you or your loved ones. The pencil pushers are running the company and their only concern is making a profit. Good employees are overworked, under paid, and way under appreciated. The residents are viewed as a money making piece of meat. It's so obvious to me now Bonaventure could not care less about their employees or residents as long as the profit margins increase. They'll give you lip service and tell you what you want to hear, then do NOTHING.

They know, and fully understand, you just moved out an elderly person from their home, most likely sold it, and now have no place to put them. They know they have you and exploit it quite efficiently.

Maybe this is the state of the entire industry; maybe it's not. But there's no other acceptable Place for, at least, 20 miles. Don't make the same mistake I did.
