Our founder, Dr. Richard Damiano, is a renowned corneal and refractive surgeon. He has been a pioneer in advanced treatment technologies and is especially noted for his patented reading device that improves vision without the use of glasses. Dr. Damiano is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his internship at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and his residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Damiano served as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Army for two years before completing a fellowship in corneal and external disease at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Damiano has had a distinguished career and is considered a leader in the field of ophthalmology. He was the first physician in the state of Colorado to perform radial keratotomy and is considered one of the pioneers of the surgery in the United States. Dr. Damiano also developed the only surgical technique to correct hyperopia, or far-sightedness, that can occur following radial keratotomy. Since 1975, Dr. Damiano has served as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He has also published and presented numerous papers.
