Founded in 1971, DAPC, also known as the Drug Abuse Prevention Center, is a nonprofit corporation that started as a 12-bed long-term residential drug treatment agency. The center offers chemical dependency treatment services for adults in southwest Washington. It administers the Sharing, Talking, Achieving, Recovering, Sisterhood (STARS) program, which provides chemical dependency assessment and treatment services for pregnant and postpartum women. DAPC offers services for the care, protection and treatment of children who are at risk, neglect and eventual substance abuse. The center focuses on the areas, such as sobriety and mental health stabilization, community integration, family reunification, interpersonal relationships, health conscious living, and employment attainment and stability. DAPC also offers services that include developmental assessment, behavioral modification, individual counseling, self-esteem building and family intervention.
