Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration is a single-state agency that is responsible for the provision, coordination and regulation of a network of publically funded substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment programs. It is a part of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration provides planning, regulation, fiscal management and technical assistance solutions. Founded in 1969, it operates community, management, information and quality assurance service divisions. The department collaborates with the judiciary and public safety agencies to offer substance abuse solutions for the criminal justice population. In addition, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration provides treatment services for veterans.
