The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is a fully integrated law enforcement agency that provides law enforcement, detention and support services to the citizens of Maricopa County and to other criminal justice agencies in Arizona. It offers services in more than 9,000 square miles and has a team of over 3,000 community volunteers. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office operates a jail that houses inmates who are in pending trial status and serving misdemeanor sentences. The office maintains MASH, which houses and cares for animals that have been abused or neglected by their caretakers and rescued by the animal cruelty investigative unit. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is located in Cave Creek, Ariz.
