Provided by YP.comWe visited, based on a recommendation, as I was in town because my son planned propose to his girlfriend. I had made reservations online, where there is no place to indicate the logistics of your party. When the hostess learned we needed a high chair added to our table, she became snippy and let us know we'd have to wait. The lighting was so dim, we wanted a flashlight to read the menus. The server was very rude, standing at our table, repeatedly insisting that we order, while we were sitting with our heads bowed, eyes closed, audibly asking the Lord's blessing on the food. Wow. Beyond that, the food was fine - nothing special, certainly not a $30 meal, though the portions were large. And the server failed to bring silverware, without being asked, thought we didn't need a steak knife for our steaks, and apparently chose not to refill our water glasses. For this, the restaurant graciously added a $28 tip to our bill, for her. I'm certain none of the 7 of us plan to return.

Provided by SuperpagesI don't understand the negative reviews on here either. I have been there five times with the wife and friends and never had a bad experience, unless you count the time my fillet was underdone which they quickly fixed. Polite staff and a really nice atmosphere. I'm not going to say it's the best, but for North West Indiana I have not had better. It's definitely better than Gino's, and a lot better than driving to the city or west suburbs.

Provided by SuperpagesI'm shocked by the reviews here. I've now been to the Lighthouse 3 times. I absolutely love this place. I've had excellent, friendly service each and every time. I took my friend this last time and now when she comes to visit this is her new favorite place to go. I think the prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite large.

Provided by SuperpagesWorst Experience Ever!!! So many problems at this place that I don't know which to list first. We were greeted by "children" at the hostess stand. Next, kept waiting for over an hour even though we had reservations. When we were finally seated, a very unfriendly waitress took our order. She forgot to serve my drink. My steak was well done even though I order it medium rare. My son had several cracks through his entire place. When we complained, instead of giving us a new plate both the waitress then the manager argued with us, stating that cracked plates are safe to eat off of. I ended up reporting them to the Indiana Board of Health who thanked me and then sent an inspector!!! I also wrote a letter to the owner and never heard back!If you want a bad, overpriced meal from unfriendly, rude people this is the place for you!!!!

Provided by SuperpagesTuesday at 6 pm, we were seated immediately by the window. Had wonderful service. I ordered a sirloin and recieved a filet. I questioned the waitress and she DISAGREED with me. I cooked for 25 yrs in a restaurant I know the difference in my steaks. But all in all a very nice time. The food was ok. At least my veggies were done. The sunset made up for any complaints.

Provided by SuperpagesMy family and I had reservations for 7 people on Saturday night. We arrived on time. It was extremely crowded and I went back to the front desk twice to see when our table would be available as we HAD reservations. We waited 55 minutes altogether and were shown 2 tables for four people. So we asked if we could push them together and were told, No. What?! We waited for almost an hour to not sit next to one another? My group did it's part, the restaurant did not do theirs. We left and ate at Dick's and had an enjoyable end to an evening that began badly. Shabby customer service and a completely disorganized system equals a -1 rating for the Lighthouse Restaurant. The seven of us will never return and will be sure to warn others of our negative experience.

Provided by SuperpagesI read the other reviews and I gotta say I am sorry that they had such a bad experience. We took our daughter there for her B.D. We were promptly seated and our waiter was very friendly. My wife and daughter both had 8oz filets and I had the pork chops w/ the garlic mashed. WOW. The food was fairly priced for the good quality and amount that we received. Josh our waiter was outstanding and the service from the rest of the staff was great. I noticed that all the people around us received the same great service. I would highly recommend it to all my friends. I felt it was a upscale resturant with reasonable pricing. Only 1 request is more cheese on the french onion soup.... I love it loaded.

Provided by SuperpagesThis Restaurant is beyond rude. My Wife is Handicaped and uses a walker, she cannot stand very long or walk very far. We arrived on a Friday night at 3:45pm, the parking lot appeared to be fairly full and the door was open. There was a large sign outside that said Giftcards were sold 9am to 9pm. When we arrived at the desk inside the person answered the phone and was talking to someone on it. We moved forward to read the board with the specials for the evening. When she got of the phone I said there was 2 of us. I did not understand her at first she said, what do you want? I replied 2 of use for dinner please. She said They were not open yet they opened at 4pm, I asked if my wife could sit down at a table till they opened. She said no! I explained that my wife could not stand much longer and needed a seat. She said no! We asked for a manager for help, Someone came saying she could not help us, we could come back after 4:00pm. We left, never to return because of their extreme rudeness.

Provided by SuperpagesI am gong to have to agree with Roger about the review reporting abuse. I left a review on October 19th and it was deleted, though it was accurate and not abusive. My original review warned about the rude management and how if you have a party of more than 6 people there is only one table that will accomodate your request. We were told they could not push tables together and our party of eight spent the entire night yelling across two widely seperated tables to each other. You would have thought that when designing this restaurant someone would have had the foresight to predict that more than one party of 8 might want to dine there in a single evening or at least that when making our reservation someone would have let us know that we would not be able to sit together. From where I live, it is the same distance for me to drive to Chicago where I will receive better food and accomodating service for comperable prices. The atmosphere is lovely, too bad the experience is not.

Provided by Superpagesrude staff, bad food or passable food, soups and salads are horrendous. the place is beautiful and in a grand setting, but that all changes when you try to eat there. Stay away, or do what I did, try it once and you will see what I am talking about. oh by the way, I know one of the ex servers and the managers post 5 star reviews for all of us to read. The proof is in the pudding and as far as the Lighthouse goes the pudding is bad.
