Very pleased with the service I received today at Gentle dental. They got me in right away when I had called all over town and even Iowa city, the wait would have been months. Gentle Dental gave appt for next day! All the staff were very kind and professional. Thank you Gentle Dental!

This place is a joke! Terrible interpersonal skills. They treat you like your in a factory line to get whatever works it is you need done. It must be all the dentist who were fired from somewhere that are now employed there. That place is disgusting.

i went in to have a front tooth repaired and they dripped something on my chin and lipto that burned. The next day i noticed that i had 4 burn marks on my chin and lip due to whatever they dripped and didnt bother wiping it off. I now have a small crater of a scar on my chin from the incident. A second appointment i went to to have a tooth pulled and they did such a horrible job that i developed a really bad infection in my gums and cheek, and they refused to help me fix the problem. The Doctors, Dental Hygienists, Office Managers, receptionists, and on call staff are rude and could care less about their patients. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GO THERE!

Last week my child had an appointment at 4pm yet when we showed up there was no record of her ever having that appointment. They were able to work her in anyway and did some fillings. One week later the fillings are still hurting so bad she cannot eat or talk without extreme pain. Went back to Gentle Dental today for cavity appointment for other side of mouth. Talked to dentist about the pain and my child was told that it's because she's not used to going to the dentist. Just because she hasn't been to Gentle Dental in a few years doesn't mean that she hasn't had preventative care somewhere else. If he'd looked at her chart he would've known that. He decided to go ahead with the fillings on the other side. When my child came out into the waiting area (because I'm not allowed to go back with her due to 'lack of room') she is in tears from the pain. She told me that numbing stuff was put on her gums then immediately after the Novocain was injected then the drilling without any time for the pain reliever to take affect. The needle went into her jaw bone under her teeth repeatedly causing extreme pain and discomfort to my child. When the assistant was using the utensil to suck up excess saliva she dug the utensil into my daughter's cheek and scrapped the back of her throat twice causing harm. We will under NO circumstance EVER return to this establishment.

We moved to town and started g...

We moved to town and started going here... they immediately diagnosed my son (8 years old at the time) with many cavities. It was strange as his dental history had been quite healthy. He had these 6 cavities filled by Gentle Dental, and I scheduled him for a teeth cleaning in two and half months, rather than the normal 6 month time period. (I wanted to make sure his teeth were staying healthy. I supervised his brushing and flossing. I also took him completely off desserts, sugar of any kind, juice or any drinks with sugar, etc.) When I took him back for his teeth cleaning, 2 and a half months after all the supposed cavities had been filled, I was told he had 4 more cavities that needed to be filled, and they would be happy to schedule him for his fillings, which would cost me $400 out of pocket after insurance (I had paid a large amount for the first 6 fillings as well). I asked how he possibly could have 4 more cavities in 2 and a half months. They said his teeth are probably decaying because he takes allergy medicine once per day. Huh??? (They never decayed before for that reason). At this point, I went to a family dentist to get another opinion. He told me my son's teeth were healthy, and he had NO CAVITIES. Now, I don't believe my son had any cavities in the first place. I think they drilled into his perfectly healthy teeth and put fillings in to make money. Of course, that was already done, so there was no way for the legitimate dentist to tell if the many fillings were needed or not. But the next round of fillings, prescribed for my 8 YEAR OLD, a mere 2 and a half months later were certainly not needed. Thank god I got a second opinion. You have to have completely horrible ethics to drill an 8 year old's healthy teeth repeatedly for the sake of making a little money. I would not go to this place for free! Also, it feels like you're on a conveyor belt and they want to get you in and out as fast as possible. Do your teeth a favor and go somewhere else. It won't let me give negative stars so I am giving one.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I went in years ago for a filling. Probably one they initially did as NOTHING THEY DO LASTS! Each time their work falls out its a little more drilling and a little more filling and therefore more damage to the tooth. This particular time I went to Dr. M-y ( figure it out ) to have a filling he put in which fell out replaced, and when I was given the shot to numb my upper right side I about shot up out of the chair. Everything is always done with a sense of such hurry and hustle and he seems distracted and a bit dense. The tooth was filled and thus began off again and on again bouts of EXCRUCIATING facial pain. Warning to others: if you are in this position, go to a heurologist. After suffering with suicide tempting pain I went back and ended up needing an extraction . I was told the filling may have been " high" and pressing on the nerve and my waiting caused the nerve to malfunction.

Wrong. I have since been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia which appropriately is known as the " suicide disease."

It's inaccurate to think of it as a disease however. Mine was caused by nerve damage but NOT due to a filling being to high. It was damaged by the shot I received. I am not sure what size needle or what percent of product or which product was used. Not sure it would've mattered. I was injected into the nerve ,damaging it, and changing my life forever.

It has now been close to 7 years and I get TN flares. I hope Dr. M can sleep well at night knowing his workmanship level is so abysmal that I have sat and thought through options in my moments of pain and I do sometimes think, at my lowest, the pain is unbearable.

Want your life ruined? Go to Gentle Dental.

they wanted an expensive all around your head xray, payment right away. they found a cavity in two teeth so i had to come back two more times. they missed the fact i had a cracked tooth which was causing the pain i orginally came in for. i found that out by going somewhere else. the staff was friendly tho. good luck
