The first barrier that refugees and new immigrants face in adjusting to life in the U.S. is the language barrier. We know that without English literacy, newcomers can struggle to access public services, education, and employment. In addition to overcoming language barriers, newcomers must navigate the complex tasks of connecting with local resources, securing adequate food, obtaining driver's permits, and attaining financial literacy. By addressing these integration and life skills challenges, local refugees and new immigrants are able to foster socio-economic empowerment, helping them to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the community.
