Wally Taylor is smart and focused. He wins good causes for good people. He won an Iowa Open Records lawsuit filed by Edwin Stone and Dave Gurwell against the Iowa City Community School District and saber-rattled enough at an Iowa City Council meeting to get city councilors to back down on the proposed Taft Speedway levee to protect the Idyllwild development at the expense of other floodplain residents who'd been there much longer and were willing to stay and take their chances with the Iowa River. The proposed levee would have cost over $6 million and subsidized fewer than 100 people, all of whom could buy flood insurance instead of whining for money to the city council and federal government for a bailout, literally.
