Time not valued

We have been a client for many years. Remember going to their office in front of Walmart. Feel that the service has been terrible since Dr shew and Dr Jones arrived. Wonder if Dr Stratton knows what goes on there when he's not. Let's just say when they are in the lab area in between clients just remember we can hear you. Meanwhile we wait with our pets in the exam room for 45-60 minutes. It's one thing to make me wait but to try to occupy my dog while I wait is another thing. Not fair to them! Staff seems to enjoy having a good time and needs to concentrate on their customers. I have given them the benefit of the doubt and it continues to happen every visit. Sad to say I am looking for a new vet!

Wonderful Clinic! I love Dr. Shew!

Dr. Shew is very thorough in all of her exams. She always discusses with me my options before ordering any type of test. Just because a test comes back as a negative result does not mean it was wasted money. It simply helps to narrow down what it is not. Veternarians are not magicians, they can not simply look at an animal and declare what is wrong with them. If you don't want to pay for them, then don't own an animal!

Everyone has their own opinion...and tests are needed sometimes to diagnose a problem

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I feel that the staff and veterinarians are very knowledgable, kind and compassionate. They always discuss what is needed prior to performing additional diagnostics on my pets. Sometimes testing doesn't give us the answers we are looking for but often tells us what's NOT wrong with our pets. These things aren't cheap but you should think about that before owning a pet. No veterinarian is perfect...they are human just like the rest of us. I highly recommend Lincoln Way Animal Hospital because they give quality care to my pets and show compassion towards them and myself.

unreliable, expensive

Took a stray cat in and paid $90 for exam, etc to be sure cat was OK b4 bring her inside with my other cats. Said everything was fine. They did not test for feline leukemia. 2 years later the stray cat becomes very ill and is only 8 yrs. old. Has feline leukemia which has now be transmitted to my other healthy cats.

The best around

@ Not Compassionate, REALLY!!! Ok in the first place u thought you were going to save money by purchasing the KC on your own, then assuming u could give it to your pet on your own.....have u ever worked with animals before??? If so you would know that it's not that easy. Plus u must not care about your animal very much since u went someone that you can not even tract where the vaccine came from. 2nd did you really think that you were going to get free service? They also were nice enough to fit you in at the last minute. I am a client there at Lincoln, they are very compassionate, and also have the lowest prices in town. I think they would be better off without you as a client. Seems like your one that's just out to cause problems.

The best around

I have been a client at LWAH for over 5yrs now. I have always received excellent care of my animals. The staff is outstanding and very compassionate. I have even seen the girls come out of a room after a euthanasia trying their best to hold back the tears until they were out of site of clients. They were even there to comfort me when it came time to put my beloved friend down. I highly recommend LWAH. I will not go anywhere else

Looking around and reading reviews

I'm looking for a new vet and I've been reading review after view of all the local hospitals. I question some things I read and it bothers me because I really want to get a good Dr for my pets! The most recent one here says about the kennel cough. It would seem to me they went out of their way to help since the person didn't plan ahead and take responsibility to have the vaccines a kennels requires. So you give a bad review because you had to pay for a service? This is not helpful to people seriously considering changing vets. Don't be vindictive just because. Reviews are hard enough to distinguish between the good and bad without childish behavior being thrown into the mix. True I don't know the whole situation, but based on what I read, an irresponsible person got upset for having to pay the consequences for their actions and tried to blame someone else.

Not Compassionate and charges are outrageous

I had bought kennel cough for my dog so I would not have to pay an outrageous amount at the vet. Well, my dog did not do well with getting squirted up the nose. So, at the last minute I had to take him to the vet because the kennel cough was wasted. I explained my situation to the vet and was very time constricted because I was leaving for vacation. I heard the vet say that he would forgo the exam so they could get the kennel cough in him and get us on our way. Well, when I went to pay they said it would be 58.50! I said are you charging me for the exam and they said yes even though they did not exam him. I only had 40.00 and asked them if I could pay the rest in 2 days. They said no. So, I probably bounced my checking account. So, thank you Lincoln Way Animal Hospital for being compassinate! I WILL NEVER RETURN!

Trust me, best around!!

Having pets for 10 years, they have grown to be a special part of our family. After using 2 different veterinary offices in Chambersburg, I can say I am truly satisfied by the care and time that Dr. Shew gives my animals. I can tell that she is a genuine person that treats my pets like she would her own. She is very intelligent and willing to answer all my questions, give me all my options, and inform me on anything and everything I need to know. I value her opinion and the way she practices medicine completely. (Nowadays you wonder if doctors care about you or how much money they can make;I don't see that with Dr. Shew at all!)I don't care how long I have to wait if Dr. Shew can see my animals. I've had a lengthy wait time but I know she was taking the time with someone else's animal and I know she doesn't rush through my appointments so I don't expect her to rush through another person's appointment either. The prices are comparable with other vets too. I highly recommend Dr. Shew

Better since Dr. Shew took over.

I have to say this place is better since Dr. Shew took over. She actually takes her time with the animals and tries to figure out what is wrong with them. Dr. Stratton reused needles which I did not like. Not sure if they still do this or not. He also insisted on vaccinating every year even if your animal had health problems. Dr. Shew has changed the policy to vaccinating every couple years now.

Very well run practice!

I must admit that I usually am picky about my vets so when I decided to write a review, this is BIG! Dr. Shew is an amazing vet. Very caring and listens to you! I have the highest respect for her and her staff.

Clinic better off with Dr. Shew!

I have worked in the animal field for over 10 years as a licensed veterinary technician in the Franklin County area. In those 10 years, I did my internship at one hospital and then was hired at another hospital for employment. I decided to take a break from the field to have children. I began taking my animals to Lincoln Way in 2007. The man doctor was nice and all, but wasn't very thorough, is definitely from the "old school", and in my opinion a mediocre doctor. Last year, I had Dr. Shew for the first time and what a wonderful experience! She goes WAY above and beyond, is extremely knowledgeable, and genuinely cares for the well being of my animals. The office was busy when I was in, but I can appreciate that she is willing to take the same amount of time with my pets and she is others;she doesn't just rush through! I can say that Lincoln Way Animal Hospital is much better off with Dr. Shew and would recommend her to everyone and anyone that truly cares about their own 4 legged kids!

Be informed....

All of my animals see Dr. Shew. I have followed her from other practices. You must have your animals examined each time because a lot can happen in a months time. You would be complaining if they didn't do an exam and gave your animal a shot and then it got sick. The girls are called into the rooms if the vet feels they are needed. I have never been treated poorly there and have never, never been hung up on. I am appalled at these reviews from clearly uneducated people. They have paperwork stating they do not cover after hours and where you will need to go. Maybe you should do your homework ahead of time. For anyone wanted good care for your pets, request Dr. Shew. You may have a wait, but you won't be sorry.

disappointed

in may i took my 2 dogs for their physcial and 2 shots each. Paid for 2 office calls plus shots.i took them back today for the remaining 2 shots. was very disappointed that i had to pay for 2 more office calls at $34 a dog, plus shots. why did they need another physcial when they just had 1 a month ago.also why was I the one in the office with the vet and I had to hold my dogs while he examined them and gave them their shots. I thought that is what those girls were for. they r getting paid to do this, but I was the one holding the dogs. other vets i have gone to had a person in the room with the vet and they were holding the dogs. times r hard for every one, but they got u over a barrel when u have to get ur pets shots, or get in trouble. not complaining about the care or service i got, just disappointed that i had to pay $68 again. I try to do the rite thing with my pets, but tired of getting ripped off. thank u.

"Go somewhere else"

My dog had surgery at lincoln way animal hospital and when she got sicker after she came home, i called after hours to inform the vet. I was treated beyond poorly and told Lincoln Way doesnt do emergency calls and noone in the area does so I was to take my sick dog to Hagerstown. Well I told them I knew there was other places, and if they could send my dogs papers over to that Vets office. The respond I recieved was "Then just take them there!" Then was hung up on. Do not expect compassion when bringing your pets here.

Friendly, knowledgeable folks

I drive from Hagerstown to see Dr. Shew. It's worth the drive. She and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Her rates are very competitive too. They also offer the 1-year rabies vaccine, which I prefer over the 3-year vaccine, which made my cat sick.

New Vet

A new vet has bought the practice. Dr. Stratton is still there sometimes too. Very good doctors. Caring and really take the time to figure out your pets problems. Highly recommend. Even though sometimes there is a bit of a wait, it's because they take the time to make sure your pets are getting the care they need....they solve problems, not just cover them up so you're back a few months later.

04/05/2010

Not that great

Not that concerned about my pets health issues. Just out to make money. Insists on vaccinating every year.

05/06/2009

Highly Recommend

Great folks here. Dr. Stratton provides quality professional service. He is a compassionate and caring vet and his staff is just like him. Never a long wait.
