Having spent a vast majority of my life in Bike Shops, I have experienced both Good and Bad Bike Shops. I have found that there are ones with Bad Mechanics and Poor Customer Service. There are ones with Poor Mechanics but Good Customer Service, and then there ones who have Good Mechanics and Poor Customer Service. The Later typically fall under the category of the Arrogant Bike. These are the worse of them all. A local Example of this would be Excelcycle in Excelsior, MN. The owner is a fantastic guy, yet it is the underlings that he has working that ultimately results in its downfall. One of the fundamental issues is, despite their “e-commerce” presence on their own website they do not or fail to match online pricing with a competitor. This simply creates a truly puzzling conundrum for me. In the zero border world we live in, this is a non-starter in addition to the current economic climate and environment we live in.
