Dr. Robert Moran is a gastroenterologist with a special interest in performing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for the management of complex pancreas, liver and gastrointestinal disorders. He graduated from University College Dublin, in Ireland, and then spent five years training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Mater Miscordiae University Hospital Dublin, Ireland. Subsequently Dr. Moran spent an additional seven years training at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland where he completed his Internal Medicine Residency, Gastroenterology Fellowship and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship. Over the course of his training, he has worked with, and been mentored by, many leaders in the field of gastroenterology and has developed a cutting-edge endoscopic skill set. Based on his knowledge and expertise he has been invited to give multiple lectures in America and Europe, and has received multiple awards for his research.Dr. Moran believes in a multidisciplinary approach for the management of complex pancreas, liver and gastrointestinal disorders. Throughout his twelve years of clinical training, he has always believed in being the patients advocate. This enables him to guide patients through emotionally challenging and medically complex health care decisions. He believes that taking the time out of a busy clinical day to talk to patients about their condition remains the most essential and enjoyable component of practicing medicine.The types of procedures that Dr. Moran performs include: endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP); endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with/without biopsy; EUS-guided transmural drainage of pancreatic collections (including pseudocysts, endoscopic removal of large polyps and early cancers) by endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD); perioral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for management of achalasia; endoscopic management of fistulas; endoscopic suturing; and, endoscopic treatments for obesity, such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and transoral gastric outlet reduction (eTOR).
