Welcome to Victory Baptist Church We are located on James Island a community directly across the Ashley River from historic downtown Charleston. Our outreach to our community extends far beyond our island, and we have church family from almost every community in the Charleston metro area. Victory Baptist is a church whose beliefs are based on the Word of God, whose members are dedicated to the will of God, and whose mission is to do the work of God. The Word of God is our sole authority for our every belief. We know that the Bible was verbally given to man in its original writings and preserved by God in its translation. God uses His Word to convict us of sin, to correct us in our errors, and to convince us of righteousness in our practices. The will of God is our sincere desire for every church member. We know that God would have every Christian to be baptized and to identify with a body of Bible-believing believers. God's people should be known as haters of sin, lovers of souls, and encouragers of saints. Our church family models the early church by fellowshipping often which encourages all of us to be more like Christ in every endeavor. The work of God is our single reason for every activity. We aggressively seek to evangelize the sinner through our witnessing to our community and through our supporting of over 80 mission outreaches, we faithfully serve to edify the saint through our doctrinally sound preaching and teaching, and we unselfishly submit to exalt the Savior by complete obedience to His commands. I was a member of this church for 25 years before moving to another state. I grew up in this church. Through years of Sunday school, kids' activities, sermons, etc., I received a solid foundation for my faith in Jesus Christ. I am still very close to many families in this church and I always visit when I come back to visit my parents. I can say that if anything has changed since I've been gone, it has changed for the better. Pastor Powell is a solid preacher, grounded in the Word with a burden for the people of Victory as well as a burden for the lost. His wife Karen is sweet and caring. The people of the church are just as warm and friendly as they have always been. They still accept me as one of their own though I've been gone for several years. This church truly is a family. It always has been. Though I have moved on and have made another church my home, I still consider Victory family. I would not be the person I am today without them! I thank the Lord for the influence of Victory Baptist Church in my life. Fellow believers. Lifelong friendships. Spiritual growth. Prayer warriors. So thankful for this church body. If you are looking for a church family, I most definitely recommend Victory!

I became a Christian at eight years of age and was a member of another church until recently changing my membership to Victory Baptist Church. I changed my membership because I have never experienced a church with such love and compassion for the scriptures and the teaching of God’s Holy Word as that of Victory.

I was extremely impressed by Pastor Powell’s relating of God’s word through his sincere sermons and love for reaching lost souls. It is a great blessing to be associated with believers who genuinely practice Christian principles.

If you are looking for a scripturally-based church, Victory Baptist would be an excellent choice for you and your family. Its church body is a group of sincere, compassionate and caring believers.

I have been greatly blessed by Victory Baptist and you will be too!

In April 2011 the Lord determined that my days of being a " student of comparative religions" had come to an end. The Holy Spirit came upon me and knocked me off of the fence I was sitting on and I landed on the winning side. I was quickly Baptized and sealed My new relationship with my personal Savior. The Lord Jesus Christ. My Friend! The Lord led me to Victory Baptist Church where I find fellowship, joy and through my Pastor Powell a clear understanding of Gods purpose for our life through His word. The Holy Bible! I go to VBC to be closer to God in song and service and in harmony with all of my wonderful friends who come for the same reason. IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS! And what can I do for JESUS! James M

I have been a member of Victory Baptist Church since 1995. I have had the privilege of being pastored by three awesome men of God. Herb O'Neal , Tim Butler and currently, Greg Powell. Pastor Powell and is family have a heart for God. They are true servants I am blessed to be a part of this church family.

Victory Baptist Church has been such a blessing to our family since we moved to the Charleston area in March of 2014. The consistent preaching of Gods Word has produced an atmosphere that is conducive to godly living. The warm and friendly atmosphere was such a blessing as we where new to the area.

I joined Victory about 5 years ago and love this church! While visiting churches in the area I discovered that Victory is the friendliest church around. The people are very open and welcoming. The church has programs, classes, and ministries for all different ages so everyone can find someplace that they fit in. Most importantly, the pastor preaches God's truth from the Bible in a way everyone can understand.

We moved to the area almost two years ago. Victory bapstist church was the first church we visited and LOVED it right away! We knew that was where God wanted us and never visited any other church. The people were so welcoming and gracious. We get Gods word preached to us and that something worth driving for (45minutes)

Our family has lived in the Charleston area for 9 years. We attended a church in North Charleston for most of that time. A little over a year ago, we started looking for a smaller church with a "family" feel to it.

We visited Victory and felt like we were at home. We visited one more service and joined. We couldn't be happier. We drive from Goose Creek to James Island for every service. Every mile we drive is totally worth it.

One of the most friendly churches we've ever visited. Just moved to Charleston from DC and VBC was on our short list to visit. We were so pleased with the preaching and the members there we've continued to attend and really love it. Not a typical "IBC" who's focus is legalist teaching, but rather having a genuine relationship with Christ and investing into the lives of those in our community and missionaries abroad. Genuinely cares for people and unapologetically peaches the word!

The woman from Victory sounds like my experience at HVBC in yonkers ny

I attended Hudson View Baptist Church many years ago when a BJU educated "Pastor" was assigned. I left after he targeted me and my family because he couldn't control us. It appears that BJU turns out tyrannical leaders. Stay away from Churches that have BJU educated Pastors. They are apparently trained to be control freaks. Oh yea HVBs last BJU educated pastor i heard left under very shadowy accusations involving serious money issues. Beware of wolves in Sheep clothing. Seems many are BJU educated. Very curious.
