I've had dinner & brunch here and I WOULD NEVER GO HERE FOR DINNER AGAIN. The food is horrible during dinner, it's over salted, the she crab soup has too much sugar in it and the cream sauces have no flavor.

BRUNCH IS WONDERFUL. I only go here for brunch, their shrimp benedict & fried chicken are great. They also have bottomless mimosas. The service here is slow but hey, that's the norm here in Charleston, slow.... and the locals are ok with it, I'm sure it's because it's what they are used to. I'm from Minneapolis and this is a huge change for me that I'm not going to get used to.

A server here dropped a plate of butter on the floor next to our table. She picked up the bowl but never wiped up the butter. It was there the entire time we were eating and after we paid. Isn't that a safety hazard?

Closed for rain

We walked into Virginia's at 8:40pm in the rain only to be told that they had just closed because of the weather! It was only raining. Earlier in the day, the market flooded. If the restaurant had issues because of this, why didn't they close earlier? There were still about 5 tables full of people still eating. So to turn away paying customers just because they didn't want to wait on any more customer is ridiculous. I was looking forward to eating there for the first time. Too bad I'll never go back.

A visit to Virginia's

We ordered the fried chicken w/ greens and mashed potatoes. Also ordered the wedge salad and gumbo. Overall, the service was very good and prompt. Nice casual atmosphere as well.

The food was good. However, it came out barely warm with one of the chicken pieces actually cold. Gumbo was also not hot enough. The chicken is tasty but too much batter. You get a lot of food here so go easy on the appetizers. I would not say this was a fantastic experience but we will give it one more try.
