The Office of the Secretary of State is operated by the government of the state of West Virginia. It oversees various departments, including finance, administration, information technology, elections, and corporations and licensing. The office also has an administrative law division that serves as an official clearinghouse for agency rules, notices, orders, decisions and procedural documents, as well as provides information for decision making. The Office of the Secretary of State is also responsible for administering a variety of licensing requirements. Additionally, it provides information on voter registration, absentee voting, election procedures, voting systems and ballots through its elections department.
