Smith Fastener Co was founded in 1965 when W.J. Smith purchased ZIM Supply Company and began to transform a general mine and mill supply house into what is now a complete fastener specialty house. Forty five years later, and into the third generation we have become a very significant regional fastener supplier to many highly recognized corporations. We have been fortunate to experience solid growth over the past several years and have taken advantage of this to reinvest heavily in our operations. In 2002 we purchased all the equipment necessary to cut, chamfer and finish full thread Stud Bolts in a variety of sizes for many alloys. In 2004 we transformed our Xylan Coating Shop with upgrades that greatly increased our production capacity. Our Machine Shop was installed in 2006 and includes 2 Milltronics CNC Machines ( 1 lathe and 1 mill ) and a Milltronic Knee Mill for short runs of special shapes. For 2009 we erected a mezzanine over 20% of our floor space that increases our shelf capacity by 50% along with creating new floor space for special fastener assemblies. In addition to this, we repainted all fixtures, polished all floors, and revised the material flow thru the building to maximize all processes.
