This organization makes its members sign a 3 year contract that needs to be disclosed in larger print. We signed the contract thinking it was similar to other sports where our child could take a break after so many months. So be advised it’s not that kind of organization. For example once summer break begins and trips to the grandparent’s house begins, they still charge your credit card and expect your child to be in class. Once school starts back up imagine your child wanting to play another sport and having to juggle school, karate (two nights a week to make it worth it), and then participate in the other sport. We were very disappointed and unaware that we were signing up for one activity for three years, unfair and not reasonable.

They do however let you out the contract if you change addresses outside of any 25 ATA Karate locations but make you pay $50. So imagine you have lost your job, and need to move, it will cost you another $50. I hope some person with the time, and money comes along to illustrate that the contract is not enforceable and unfair. This is karate for children not a mortgage for a house. I think dishonesty however is the foundation of their program. They get you to buy peripherals, and decide to have belt promotions which cost $60 each, even when it does not seem they are ready for a new belt!

Just making sure others do not make the same mistake we did. Not sure if all karate places are the same, but I would shop around.
