I dropped my work van at Elkins Automotive LLC Charlotte 9 days ago. I didnt hear from them for 2 days so I took off to go to the shop in person. As soon as the conversation began, Tim the shop manager told me he wouldnt put up with my "attitude." I finally got an estimate on the 3rd day of $900. On the 5th day I received a phone call saying my cost was now over $1200 because the cheap universal catalytic converter they attempted to weld underneath my van wouldnt work. On the 9th day I picked up the van and was charged the full $1210 but after paying was told that I had a SECOND CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THAT IT HAD A HOLE IN IT AND I HAD BAD INTAKE RUNNER SO THE VAN WOULDNT RUN PROPERLY.

My van had to be taken to another shop...Let me remind you...Now thats 9 days and $1210 later!

I thought this was a great shop but after getting an egr error after having the egr completely updated 24 hours prior -I realized that I may be wrong. I called the shop and was told - its your cat convert - even though the error came up as an egr error. took the car to Meineke to be sure and they showed me a screw was placed in one of my egr tubes and they removed it and connected the tube (hose)... never had the error again - this correction took 2 seconds and was free. tried to call to follow up was given a call 4 days later by then I had the car looked at by another shop and a friend and was told that my transmission is REALLY bad... this was never addressed... even though the suggestion for expensive repairs kept coming. Very disappointed. The owne is a really nice guy... hope the shop fixes its "glitches"

Exceptional Service. Elkins Automotive repaired problems when my authorized dealer left my car dangerous to drive, and the repaIr was within my budget.

I do not recommend this place. The customer service is bad. It takes too long to get your vehicle worked on after dropping it off. The owner is rude and won't tell you anything or contact you.

We had a lot of work done at Elkin's and every aspect of what they had done still had problems. We were extremely dissapointed in their work despite their efforts to try and fix the problems that they had already fixed - to no avail I might add!
