From a very early age, I loved science and math and knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. It's even listed as my career ambition in my kindergarten yearbook! \n In addition, with a sister who's an endocrinologist and a great aunt who was a pediatrician, we have something of a family tradition of taking care of people. \n I fulfilled my childhood dream; I do specialize in pediatrics. But I further specialized and became an allergist and immunologist dedicated exclusively to kids. Pediatric allergy is an extremely interesting field - especially right now, as it's an area of active research. There is so much we can do now to help patients, and I find that truly gratifying. \n We are a kid-friendly, patient-centered practice. We're also big problem solvers. Managing allergies can be challenging for parents, and we love helping families address those challenges. Our immune systems are remarkable, and it's fascinating to put puzzle pieces together to understand if/why/how systems within the body aren't working optimally. And it's rewarding to develop a treatment plan that addresses what's not working. \n I used to have lots of hobbies. But since having my baby daughter, spending time with her is my favorite pastime. I love seeing the world anew through her eyes. I also love reading and dancing and hope my daughter will love both those things, too. Her nursery has a Harry Potter theme, so we're already nudging her in that direction. \n I absolutely love what I do. And there's nothing better than having gratifying work.
