PLEASE DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE !!!!! My daughter is scared to death of any dentist because they pulled out the numbing needle and she said without any warning. I REGRET TAKING MY CHILDREN THERE. At the time we had to use the state Insurance and I believe they get what they can done. We have found a new dentist after 2 yr and He is the BEST ever. NEVER HAS HE MADE THE KIDS FEEL NERVOUS, SCARED OR ANYTHING . The Staff is wonderful. THANK GOD I get insurance through my job. My Children will never be TRAMATIZED AGAIN!!!!!!!!! If I could give this NO STARS..... I WOULD.

Don't ever go there. My child was tramatized there and I will never take him back. I'm just glad that I recognized it early on and stopped them before they got too far. He's only 5 and they would not let me go back with him, even though he was scared to death. He got into the room (where I was watching thru the window) and he immediately turned and ran out. The assistant took off after him and I waited a few minutes to see if he would come back inside. I didn't see him anymore after that. My oldest son was there and he kept looking at me funny (like I needed to do something). He is 11 and he actually got a nice girl to take care of him (Thank God he didn't need anything more than a cleaning!). I grabbed a girl and told her to go back and get my 5 yr old because I didn't feel right about what was going on (my oldest child's face told me alot even though I couldn't hear anything thru the window). She brought my 5 yr old out and he was crying so hard, he was hyperventilating! He told me that he tried to run but she grabbed him and took him into a private room and threw him on the chair. He tried to get up and she was yelling at him to lay down. My oldest child could hear this but I couldn't. It was so bad that after he came out to me, he saw the girl and started freaking out again because he thought she was coming to get him. He started begging me to not make him to back again. I immediately made another appt with another dentist office so he could see that this wasn't normal. I don't want him tramatized forever because of this place! Please don't take your kids there! At the end, they even asked me if I wanted to have him strapped to a board so they could do what they needed to do! No way are these idiots strapping my child to a board!

This place was awful...My poor son needed six teeth removed and was so nervous he started crying the moment the dentist pulled out the numbing needle....(he's never had a tooth pulled before) He was so scared and kept asking for me to hold his hand......They do not allow parents in the back with the kids, (under any circumstances) so if your child is accustomed or comforted by Mom holding his or her hand, this is not the place for you!...I have NC Health choice and have limited choices... Almost no Dentist accept this insurance except for a limited few. After two attempts at numbing the poor kids gums, they kindly asked me to leave with my records......I was shocked that an office that prides it's self on pediatric dentistry could not handle my poor kid simply because he was nervous...(He's 10 years old) He was not screaming or kicking, ....He was just quietly crying asking for his Mom and moving his face away from a terrifying( in his case) needle...If this place can't handle a nervous child it shouldn't be in the business.Also if they can't break the no parent rule for the safety of the child and for the good of his health....it becomes a bit fishy to me...what kind of place does that????..My poor son has an infected tooth that he now has to wait two more weeks to get out!...I will never go back and I will be sure that no one I know wastes their time at smile starters!

MY SON HAD A DENTAL APPOINTMENT AT SMILE STARTERS ON NORTH TRYON AT 8 AM ONE MORNING, WHEN WE ARRIVED IT WAS ALREADY OVER CROWDED IN THE LOBBY ( AT 8 AM !!!). FIRST AND FOREMOST PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO IN THE BACK WITH THEIR CHILDREN FOR WHATEVER REASON AND ALSO WE DIDN'T LEAVE UNTIL 12:30 PM !!!!! THAT'S CRAZY !!!! MOST OF THE NURSES WERE QUITE FRIENDLY AND THE DOCTOR WAS VERY HELPFUL AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME. BUT, I WILL NOT RETURN DUE TO OVERBOOKING AND THE EXTRA LONG WAIT TIME!!!! IF YOU DO TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE PLEASE BE PREPARED TO WAIT ALL DAY!!!!!!

I'm was new to the area and I was searching for a children dental clinic. I was very concern about the quality and the treatment they were going to recieve. A good friend recommended Smile Starters.



From our very first visit I was delighted. The staff treated us we courtesy. We didn't wait long to be seeing. The medical team explain in full detail the treatment plan the children required and even went into detail regarding some of the procedures.



I have recommended many of my friends to your clinics on Freedom and N Tryon. They agree we me has well. Smile Starters is the best children dental clinic in Charlotte.
