Hi, my name is Drew Barga and I am passionate about fitness! As your Personal Trainer, I will create a program that will address all of your needs and fitness goals. I first became interested in fitness and strength training in high school as a nerdy 15 year old kid. I wanted to become a football player. I began strength training at the local YMCA and went from 180 pounds to a strong 215 pounds my senior year. During that time I transformed myself into the starting tight end and captain of the football team. After graduation, I got my first job as the Assistant Fitness Manager of Appalachian Physical Therapy and Fitness Center in 2001. It was there that I began my career as a certified personal trainer. Over the next two years I lost over 60 lbs of body fat. In Richmond, VA I was the Assistant Fitness Director of American Family Fitness Centers. I honed my personal training and management skills. My boss and I opened a brand new 40,000 sq ft fitness facility. In 2005 I was hired as the Program Manager of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Fitness Center, a corporate gym for the Department of Energy in Washington, DC. I trained clients, taught group exercise classes and became an all around fitness guru. I have the background and experience to successfully guide you to health and fitness. I have had many clients tell me I make their workouts fun and exciting. The ultimate reward for me is seeing a client transition to becoming more confident and happy!

Welcome to C'ville, Bar-G Fitness!

Drew Barga is a talented, knowledgeable, and engaging personal trainer. He took the time to get to know me and structured workouts that met my needs. Drew encouraged me to expect more from myself and from my body. His teaching style and enthusiasm helped motivate me to become comfortable with many exercises that I could do on my own between training sessions. Drew is a dedicated professional who loves what he does and truly cares about his clients.

Drew is AWESOME!

I trained with Drew for several months while he was working in Washington, DC. When I first started with Drew, I was in a complete rut; I couldn’t lose weight on my own; my workouts were boring; I had no inspiration. Training with Drew changed everything. He designed workouts for me that were fun, creative, challenging, and effective. Each week, I saw myself progress and my confidence shot up. I was doing things I never thought possible. Other gym members were amazed (and jealous, I think!) of the awesome workouts I was doing. Even though Drew is not in DC anymore, I continue to do the same workouts he taught me.

Drew is passionate about personal training and clearly loves to help people meet their fitness goals. He is a fun and dynamic trainer that will motivate you and change the way you think about working out. I can sum it up by saying: DREW IS AWESOME!

He delivers

I went to Drew when he was working at FERC. I needed to lose some weight but I really needed to shape up. I was going on a trip to Alaska to float the KongaKut River in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. That meant paddling, hiking, setting up and taking down camp every day. I was also going with a friend who had just had a hip replacement and I wanted to be able to help her as well. In two months I lost the weight and strengthened my core. I looked forward to our sessions and really enjoyed them (each hour just flew by). I also learned a lot about the equipment, proper breathing and form. I feel very confident when I go to any gym to work out now. I understand all the equipment and know what I'm doing.

Thanks Drew!

Cyndi
