Professor Kimber Hawkey has assisted me with a very good working knowledge and fluency of the French language. She has prepared me to be able to listen and speak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on a mission trip, where many times I did not have a translator and had to be conversant in French . She has also shared many of the cultural values and unique attributes of the French citizens, from

family values, sports, schools, vacation preferences, and food.

Professor Hawkey has a wonderful sense of humor and is able to motivate me, week by week, to learn more French vocabulary, phrases, and sentence structure which will help me a great deal when

I return to the Congo on the next mission trip.
