CAUTION. THEY WILL SCAM YOU. They failed my van for state inspection due to a "power steering leak." When asked to show us the leak, they were unable to. And STILL would not pass it. We had to get the Virginia State Police to come and ORDER them to pass the vehicle. Unbelievable. Thanks to the VSP for their time and assistance!

Very POOR service

We have been going to University Tire for YEARS & just have watched the service go down hill over the last 2-3 years! They constantly over charge for service, they offer the lifetime balance & rotating of tires if purchased, so we've now bought 3 sets of tires & every time it comes time to balance/rotate them we spend 5/6 hours @ least waiting to have the service done, but can go for a state inspection & be done within an hour, seems to be that its a problem to honor the service they offer but if you're paying for the smallest thing they can get to you in no time! Have even had horrible experience with the employees working on their friends cars taking up a bay that could be used for actual customers, have been waiting in the waiting area & watched an employee go purchase Beer & bring back to the shop! Be sure to keep an eye on them while they have your vehicle, its hard to say which services are truly performed, I've went in for the oil change that includes tire rotation & watched them do just the oil change, drive my truck out & tell me everything was done when called out on it alls you receive is a dumb look & "Oh you didnt say you wanted them rotated" Well why would I pick the oil change that includes it!!!!! A bunch of ignorance walking around like a deer in headlights !!!!! HORRIBLE

The manager is extremely rude to customers and I've heard mechanics make fun of customers, saying that they were "stupid." I've had 3 interactions with this place and all three were terrible.

I went in Tuesday eveing because my car was over heating and something leaking in the front they found out my water pump leaking. Onnie was very courtest and help full with my situation, he recommended I not drive my car until it was repaired. He told me that driving my car while over heating could ruin my engine. I knew I needed to get the work completed but didn't have any transportation to get home that evening. Onnie loaned me one of there loaner cars at no charge to drive while they repaired my car. Onnie called me the next day letting me know my car was ready and to come in at my convience. I don't know what I would have done without the loaner. Customer service was great!

We just had 4 Michelin tires installed and alignment and saved $ 100.00. I had know idea about the coupons and rebates when we arrived but Mark who was working the front counter informed me of the savings. He didn't have to do that I was going to but the tires any way but they look out for their customers. Over the years we've had many experiences just like this one. If any one ask where we go for car repairs we always recommend University Tire. Their local, their prices are fair, their trust worthy and honest. Keep up the great work.

They are locally owned operated and a ficture in the business community. They are also involved in many charities in the charlottesville community. I went for a state inpection and oil change last week and had a great experience. The front counter guy Israel was great very professional and he got me right in. My car needed tires and alignment which I knew going in but thought it may squeak by. I didn't realize I had worn them down so much that wire was coming out of two of them, not safe. Israel was able to save me $ 100.00 by usung a $ 70.00 mail coupon and a instant $ 30.00 coupon. I was going to buy the tires anyway but he went the extra mile to save me money. Now that's customer service! I'll be back for my free rotations that's for sure and any other service that comes up. Thanks guys.

I needed a state inspection and thought I would give University a try. I was not surprised when they said I needed brakes and rotors and I was prepared to pay for the work. What irked me was that they said it would take an hour to do and I then waited for over 2.5 hours before they told me that they had to order some parts and that it would be another 30 minutes before they were done with me. Had they been up front I would have gone back to the office instead of sitting there wasting almost 4 hours in all. On top of that they didn't even apologize for not telling me that it was going to take longer.

I recently took my vehicle to university tire and auto and they took care of all my concerns. There was no pressure to buy anything. I wanted a state inspection and to my suprise, it passed. The service advisor showed me potential concerns that may affect my vehicle later on and gave me an estimate for those concern. I called around other facilities to get prices and University Tire was well within the ball park. I told them to take care of everyting and they did just that. I could not have been more pleased with my experience at University Tire. I will recommend them to all of my friends and family.

We just bought 4 Michelin tires and had them installed and recieved a $ 70.00 rebate! Free alignment check and a oil change in less than and hour! Way to go guys that's what I call service! It's know wonder you've been voted Charlottesville's number 1 tire store again!

Our family has been using University Tire for automotive repairs, oil changes and tires for many years. They have a friendly professional staff who take the time to explain whats going on with your car. There not the cheapest in town but I think there the best. If the repair is going to take a while they offer you a shuttle ride or a loaner car. They go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. There a good bunch of guys.

They told me my car had "frozen tie rods" and couldn't be aligned without approximately a $600 repair. I took the car to another shop and they were able to align it without new tie rod ends. They told my boyfriend his car needed new struts to the tune of $700, but the dealer said the tire problems he had were because of poor alignment. Both issues resolved satisfactorily and much more cheaply at OTHER shops.

I took my Youkon and had two tires changed,Frony in work and oil cahnged. It was done right on time and the work was wounderful!! The customer srevice was great!

I went in to get a transmission problem looked at, and they said I would need to replace the transmission at a cost of $2700. I then took my car to another location, which then diagnosed the problem as a $10 transmission gasket needing to be replaced. Ends up it was installed incorrectly...by University Tire and Auto a year ago (I checked, I still have the receipt).



This wasn't the first time that I've had problems with University Tire and Auto, and after this time I believe my friends at work in their stating that University Tire and Auto is notorious for "inflated" costs and repairs. I would strongly recommend other people to stay far away from this palce.
