Alumnite is one of the largest independent manufacturers of door and window screens, roll form shapes and screen hardware in the United States. The company was founded in 1956, when father and son team Ed and Jack Andres began selling window screens door-to-door in Bakersfield, Calif. In 1958, they moved to Santa Maria to grow the business in the Southern California market, targeting Vandenberg Air Force Base as a major potential customer. By 1979, the company was a leading OEM provider, and the company had moved a portion of the business to Chehalis, Wash., creating the first satellite location. Aluminite is a member of the Screen Manufacturers Association. The company s electronic-ordering procedure allows quicker processing time, fewer errors, large order-filling capacity and no backlog.
