Four weeks ago I went to Aldi. I got in line and the cashier lectured like a school boy about how I butted in line and the line began in a food aisle that was offset from the cash register. I was fuming but went and got in line with my wife. After I checked out, I asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a man who identified himself as an "Assistant Manager." I told him I did not appreciate being lectured by a cashier for something the store should have made apparent with signage. I recommended he store post signs to make its intent clear. I did not go back until today.

Today, Saturday, 13 June 2020, my wife called me and asked me to pick up bread. Aldi was the closest place on my way home from where I was. So, I stopped there. I got in line for the same register as the last time I visited and the Assistant Manager I talked to last time was working the register. I looked down the aisle I was told the line started in (for that register) from the last time I visited. Nobody was there. I stood in place about 15 feet away from the next customer (due to COVID). About 15 seconds later the manager tells me the line starts in an aisle that is 4 aisles down from the register he is working. I went to that aisle and nobody was in line! As I'm standing in line I notice there still are no signs telling customers where lines start. So, the store is making up rules that change day-to-day and not communicating its expectations to customers. It infuriated me! It will be a very long time before I go back to Aldi. That store does not care enough about communicating to their customers to put a small amount of effort in to making a cardboard sign and marking the floor with some tape. UNBELIEVABLY bad customer service! The Assistant Manager I talked to must have no initiative to listen and respond to concerns.
