As a senior, visited 2x this week. Yesterday, I waited until after waitress's shift changed before I was offered a refill. I just didn't see her come back, and that's how I found out her shift had changed. Waited 10 minutes just for fresh okra. Nevertheless, great price for a senior early bird lunch /buffet. I am not sure of the restaurant's specialty. The food is excellent compared to similar restaurants. No, they do not serve alcohol. Atmosphere is wonderful, and very music-oriented. I love, love, love the old music they play R&B which is my favorite that reminds me of my country in South America. Service could be better for some waitresses. Some are excellent servers. I can usually get a table. The parking situation is difficult for "disabled seniors." I would recommend more handicap parking. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, such as, a teacher taking students out to dine-out. Last year and in previous years, I held my birthday celebration there with a few of my sixth-graders, among them, one who had the same month's birthday as mine. We were in the reserved section (a booth). I dined often in the past, but now, will re-consider dining more often, since I have become a senior 13 years ago. It's difficult to dine because of my hours of work. While the restaurant is kid-friendly, kids are not monitored, and this devalues customer service for any establishment where food is concerned. My favorites on the menu: fried okra (reminds me of my country), steamed rice, baked chicken, black-eyed peas, yogurt with pieces of pineapple, rolls (sometimes). I would love to see the Cajun black beans on the menu, and catfish. Recommendation: Some tags or labels are not associated with the foods on the buffet. I visited Monday, and Teriyaki Chicken was labeled for the cut-up beef that was in the tray. Cleanliness and food safety should be the #1 priority, as is making customers feel appreciated and welcome. The table I requested to be cleaned, was wiped down with a blue rag the former waitress pulled out from her "Apron." Not sure how often that is rinsed or washed off. Not good for cleanliness in a restaurant.
