I am a single mom and brought my children here (3) on a Saturday night for the buffet special. I have 3 and 4 ur old boys, Children 4 and under are "supposed" to be free. While half way through my dinner the waitress comes over and tells me her manager had asked my son how old he was when we were at the buffet and he said 5 so she would have to charge me. I told her he doesnt know he hasnt even started school yet and she said she didnt care to take it up with management. Never came back asked how we were or anything. Thr manager rang us up so I asked if I need a birth certificate next time to prove he age and she said ," No that does'nt prove it, it could be anyone's birth certificate" she said her workers ask all small children their age and go off what the child says...WOW interrogating small children. Bottom Line, this Shoney's is losing money because of their lousy horrible work staff and is trying to charge every penny they can to make up for it! 2 parties behind me waiting to pay were also very upset complaning about their waiters/waitress's and stated they would not be back due to the rude service. Please go a little further to the Hull St Shoney's or Colonial Heights. The Chester Shoney's needs to fire all of their management! I will never go back....

Really bad experience from the time we walked in until we walked out. The buffet items did not look fresh so I ordered from the menu. The chicken nuggets came out nice and hot so I decided to cut one down the middle to let it cool off. Thank goodness I did that because I discovered that the chicken was NOT cooked in the middle! We showed the manager and he quickly removed the plate w/o saying a word to use. The server came back with our ticket and said 20% was deducted. A $17 ticket and I only ate 2 bits of lettuce! Done with Shoney's.
