My mother was told by a dentist that she should have ALL of her teeth removed.

Her second opinion dentist told her she should have the 7 problem teeth extracted.

My mother has had a fear of dentists from way back and needless to say, her neglect finally caught up with her, so she was terrified of getting such drastic work done.

By God s grace, a friend told me about Dr. Stephen Brown. When I mentioned him to my mother, we did a search for him online. We saw great reviews for Dr. Brown and NONE for the dentist she had an appointment with!

Needless to say, she cancelled her appt. to get the extractions done, in favor of getting a 3rd and final opinion from Dr. Brown.

His staff took x-rays and he did a visual exam/probe of her mouth. When he was done, he admitted what we all knew, her teeth were not in good shape. He asked if she had any pain. She said no. Bleeding? No. ANY problems? No.

After all was considered, he told my mother that unless she had pain, he didn t see any reason to pull her teeth, which would start a course of costly, perhaps, painful and inconvenient procedures. In her case, he essentially said, if it ain t broke---and she can chew, eat, smile, laugh and enjoy life---don't fix it.

My mother was elated! I was relieved. Dr. Brown made our day.

Oh, did I mention that my mother is 89 years old? No other dentist seemed to take her advanced age into consideration, as Dr. Brown did.

He said if she were his family member, he would tell them the same thing.

BTW, he did say that the moment she feels any pain, he will be there to pull the offending tooth, even if it s a weekend.
