Established in 1969, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest is a public interest law and policy center that offers a range of legal services. It staffs various lawyers and policy specialists. The center has collaboration with various nonprofit, business, community and governmental organizations and conducts several housing and educational programs. It works to increase the availability of affordable housing for working families and transform segregated public housing. The center s Public education program focuses to improve the quality of education for children from the low-income group. It is located in Chicago and works with the Lake County Affordable Housing Commission, which focuses on the preservation of existing affordable housing.
