The Chicago Board Options Exchange is the world's largest options marketplace and the pioneer of listed options. The exchange was founded in 1973 as the first United States options exchange and trading board of standardized and listed options. CBOE pioneered the concept of standardized, listed stock options to be traded on a centralized, regulated marketplace. Listing call options on just 16 stocks, CBOE traded 911 contracts on that first day of business in 1973. CBOE's highly acclaimed Web site CBOE.com, is regarded as a premier financial portal for investors. CBOE.com provides a popular forum for investors to expand their options knowledge through the use of valuable online resources including real-time and delayed options quotes, market statistic summaries, strategy discussions and applets, option software downloads and interactive educational training modules. The Options Clearing Corporation is the sole issuer of all securities options listed at the CBOE, four other U.S. stock exchanges and the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. and is the entity through which all CBOE option transactions are ultimately cleared. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulates the CBOE.
