I took ballet at this school for nine years. It gave very good dance lessons. I came away with a bit more grace and flexibility than I had before, and good posture. But the "supportive & nurturing environment" sort of left after a few years. I think it was around when I turned 10; all of the fun just left and it suddenly became very very serious. I guess that's good if you plan to make a career out of ballet, but if you don't, it's just discouraging and also a bit frightening to be told that "to be a true dancer you must bleed through your shoes." At that time there was also suddenly a lot of pressure to start dancing on point. About a year later, I quit.
