The Office of the Illinois Attorney General works to protect consumers, help crime victims and safeguard communities. It also advocates for older residents and ensures an open government that defends the rights of the state residents. Its consumer protection division protects businesses victimized by fraud, deception and unfair business practices. Its work is carried out by several bureaus, such as consumer fraud, charitable trust, franchise, health care, public utilities and veterans rights. The office provides a number of fact sheets, news releases and other consumer-related information. In addition, speakers are available to give presentations on consumer protection issues. The office also advocates for an end to domestic violence and sexual assault.
