The National Futures Association (NFA) is the self-regulatory organization for the United States futures industry. The association is responsible for developing rules, programs and services that safeguard market integrity, protect investors and help members meet regulatory responsibilities. It has a membership of more than 4,000 firms and over 55,000 associates throughout the U.S. The National Futures Association regulates and supervises the working of the futures market that includes oil, precious metals, equities, treasury bonds, financial indexes, foreign currencies and agricultural commodities. It adopts stringent rules covering various areas, such as advertising, telephone solicitations, risk disclosure, discretionary trading, disclosure of fees, minimum capital requirements, reporting and proficiency testing. The National Futures Association maintains its headquarters in Chicago.
