Nederlander Organization, operating out of Chicago, hosts Broadway In Chicago, a joint venture between Clear Channel Entertainment and the Nederlander Organization. The creation of Broadway In Chicago, in 2000, allows the two theatre industry leaders to present musicals and plays, on the stages of three of the finest theatres in Chicago's Loop, including La Salle Bank Theater, the Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Oriental Theatre and the Cadillac Palace Theatre. The LaSalle Bank Theatre opened as the Majestic Theatre in 1906. Recent productions have included the Chicago premiere of Rent, Sweet Smell of Success and Twyla Tharp's Movin' Out. The Palace Theatre opened in 1926 as the flagship of vaudeville's legendary Orpheum Circuit. The stars believed to have played the Palace are Jimmy Durante, Mae West, Jack Benny, Sophie Tucker and Bob Hope. Chicago's Oriental Theatre opened on May 8, 1926. Among the many stars that played the theatre are Paul Ash, The Three Stooges, Judy Garland, Al Jolson, George Burns, Danny Kaye and Alice Faye. Opened in 1889, the Auditorium building was the first multi-purpose building incorporating a hotel, offices and retail spaces along with the theatre.
